There are many opportunities to serve ministries at First Unitarian Church of Omaha.  Volunteers make it possible to maintain a healthy and vibrant church family.  Working together in areas of mutual interest, members experience a genuine sense of community and contribute to the democratic process within our congregation.  If you are interested in becoming involved in our church community please contact us.
Garden Team
 
The Garden Team takes care of our lovely garden.
 
Building Team
 
The Building Team steps in for minor repairs--anything from a leaky faucet to hanging up new hooks in the minister's office. If you have fix-it skills, the Building Team would love to have you on board. If you love this building, join us!
 
Long-Term Building Team
 
The Long-Term Building Team looks at the building's long range needs and plans accordingly. Every building eventually has work that needs to be done or expensive furnances that need repair or replaced. This team investigates and plans for our future.

Nursery Team
The Nursery Team brings together church members who have children or who have a passion for children and their young UU education.

Finance Team

The Finance Team has a major responsibility conducting a pledge campaign each spring. They also help supervise church finances and help develop the budget to be approved at the Annual Membership Meeting each May. 
 
Fundraising Team
 
The Fundraising Team organizes events and activities that bring in funds for our operating budget. Some previous events have been: The Not-Just-For-Couples Valentine's Day Party and the All Hallow's Eve Party and Silent Auction. This team also in charge of our scrip program. If you like to plan parties and like to fundraise plus you are interested in helping the church, this team is for you.

Youth and Children Religious Education Team

The Religious Education Team oversees our lively Religious Education offerings including Sunday School and youth activities. 

Adult Religious Education

The Adult Religious Education team provides programs (such as workshops, lectures, and concerts) of an intellectual, aesthetic, psychological, and educational nature. A list of current programs is posted on the Adult RE page.

Archives

The Archives team maintains historical records pertaining to our building and our congregation and keeps scrapbooks of members who appear in the news. 

Caring Team

The Caring team maintains contact with and expresses concerns for ill, homebound, and bereaved members of the church. 

Chalice Guild

The Chalice Guild helps dispose of recyclables, keeps kitchen utensils in order, and maintains our chalice, candles, linens and other chancel accessories.

 

Membership Team

The Membership Team helps arrange for orientation sessions and helps guide new members into channels of church activity where their talents can flourish and grow. They also supervise the membership book, the name tags, and the regular recognition of new and longtime members.

Office Team

The Office Team helps with office tasks from envelope stuffing and word processing, to computer and procedural consultations, assessing office needs and budgeting office funds.

Publications Team

The Publications team assists the office administrator with our weekly and monthly publications. The publications team also handle public relations for the church. They also oversees creation, publication, and design/content consistency of church printed materials and the website.

Religious Services Team

The Religious Services Team provides many avenues for lay people to be involved in the church services, including serving as ushers, chalice lighters, church criers, readers, and chancel decorators. They also arrange for occasional lay-led services and for an exciting array of summer services when the minister is on vacation.

Fellowship Team
 

This team provides opportunities for people of all ages in the church community to interact socially and build community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: the Holiday Dinner, Circle Suppers, the Fall Picnic/Social, Chili Cook-off and multi-generational events.
