Sanctuary on Sunday

Sunday Worship Services
9:30 a.m. Eclectic and 11:15 a.m. Traditional

First Unitarian Church of Omaha is located at 3114 Harney Street.  Sunday Services begin at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday Services are followed by our traditional coffee hour in the church social hall known as the Common Room. Children grades K-6 begin in the sanctuary and then attend Sunday School following "The Story for All Ages" which occurs early in the service. Child care is provided in the nursery for infants and pre-school children.  Dress comfortably. Free parking is available in the lot west of the Church.

February 7 - Rev. Kate Rohde - Spiritual but Not Religious?
It’s not always clear what people mean by this saying. Yet many of them find a home within our congregations, if we are open to them. This Sunday is a “Bring a Friend Sunday.” If you have a friend you think might enjoy our church, consider inviting them this Sunday.

Music: 9:30: Donovan Johnson with the First UU Morning Risers; 11:15: Pat Will, organ and the First Unitarian Choir under the direction of Bob McMeen with accompanist Pat Allender.

February 14 - Rev. Kate Rohde - Standing on the Side of Love
The UUA has chosen "Standing on the Side of Love" as a theme for what we are about as an association.

Music: 9:30: Donovan Johnson with the First UU Morning Risers with special guests Nic Johnson and Justin Lamoureux from Midwest Dilemma; 11:15: Pat Will, organ.

February 21 - Rev. Kate Rohde - Theology at the Movies
This season’s popular movie, “Avatar,” has a fictional religion as a major force in the plot. Star Wars buffs will
remember “The Force.” Some thoughts about theology at the movies and what they might tell us about what we really think.

Music: 9:30: Donovan Johnson with the First UU Morning Risers; 11:15: Pat Will, organ and the First Unitarian Choir under the direction of Bob McMeen with accompanist Pat Allender.

February 28 - Rabbi Alan Potash, Regional Director, Anti-Defamation League Plains States Region and Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation of Omaha

Music: 9:30: Donovan Johnson with the First UU Morning Risers; 11:15: Pat Will, organ

Sunday Sharing to Help Others

Share the Plate: We set aside one-half of the undesignated cash contributions in our Sunday offering plate to support a worthy cause. This month's share the plate recipient is Kiva, Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. More information.

Change for Change: The coins that our members and friends contribute to the Sunday offering plate and at other times are turned over to the children of the church. They determine how to use these funds to help others.
