Sunday Services

Welcome to First Unitarian Church of Omaha!

  • First Unitarian Church of Omaha is located at 3114 Harney Street.
  • Our service times are at 9:30 & 11:15 during most of the year. (Check the calendar here). The 9:30 service is more contemporary; the 11:15 service is in a traditional style.
  • Sunday Services are followed by a coffee hour in the church social hall known as the Common Room downstairs.
  • Children at the 9:30 service go straight to their classroom. At the 11:15 service, we ask children to come to the sanctuary, then listen to the Story for All Ages before being dismissed to their classrooms.
  • Child care is provided in the nursery for infants and pre-school children and is staffed 20 minutes before and after each service.
  • Dress comfortably, we do!
  • Free parking is available in the lot west of the Church.
  • Share the Plate: Each month, we set aside one-half of the undesignated cash contributions in our Sunday offering plate to support a worthy cause. Click here to find out which organization the church is supporting this month!

Here you'll find information about where the kids go for their classes and where to take children younger than kindergarten.

The sermon is the liturgy of a Unitarian Universalist service. Listen to some selected sermons or download one to read or listen to at your leisure. Our settled minister and guest speakers have sermons for your preview here.

At 9:30 Donovan Johnson directs the Early Morning Risers, our church rockstars. At 11:15 we have our traditional hymns and classical pieces played by talented musicians, including Patricia Will, our organist. We also have a heavenly choir directed by our professional choir master Bob McMeen, joined by our choir accompanist, Patricia Allender. Listen to all our wondrous music here!

After the service, join us for coffee hour, where we greet each other as a community over fair trade, shade-grown organic coffee roasted especially for us by A Hill of Beans. Our Green Sanctuary Team has this Unitarian Universalist blend for sale along with other varieties for sale during coffee hour.

The chalice is the symbol of our movement, the Unitarian Universalists. Our logo incorporates a chalice with other elements that have meaning for us at First Unitarian.
