Outside Opportunity: Online Film Salon Voices from the Holy Land Presented by Unitarian Universalists for Justice in the Middle East and Independent Jewish Voices - Canada


Unitarian Universalists for Justice in the Middle East UUJME co-hosts a monthly virtual film. You watch the virtual movie during the month at your convenience and join the virtual discussion on the 3rd Sunday at 2pm (CT).  You can watch the movie and not attend the discussion or vice versa. Community Information: Hearing Impaired?

The Nebraska Commission on Deaf and Hard of Hearing has a program very helpful program called NSTEP.

Through it any Nebraskan who is hearing impaired can apply for a voucher up to $1000 to purchase a new cell phone that will pair with the person's hearing aids.

The process takes several steps 1.complete application. 2. Hearing specialist verifies hearing loss. 3. Applicant submits to NCDHH for review. 4. If approved, NCDH sends applicant a voucher. 5. Applicant redeems voucher with their cell phone carrier.

Transforming Conflict in Congregations: Saturday, June 8 at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET (3-hour workshop). An interactive workshop featuring Rev. Dr. Terasa Cooley, based on her book, Transforming Conflict: The Blessings of Congregational Turmoil. Having served as a UU minister for 35 years, Rev. Cooley invites you to understand your own patterns of dealing with conflict, develop skills for negotiating difficult conversations, and achieve a greater understanding of congregational conflict dynamics.

Antisemitism Curriculum from a Framework of Collective Liberation: Thursday, June 13 at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET (2-hour workshop). The “Curriculum on Antisemitism from a Framework of Collective Liberation” is devoted to understanding and challenging antisemitism grounded in a deep commitment to justice and dignity for all people. The presenters are co-directors of PARCEO: Nina Mehta, educator and ethnographer, and Donna Nevel, community psychologist and educator.

Outside Opportunity: The Love Tour featuring RCMC & SFGMC

Monday, July 8 at 7pm at Countryside Community Church. This Summer, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus embarks on The Love Tour to Iowa and Nebraska. The River City Mixed Chorus, Omaha's only LGBTQ+ chorus, will host SFGMC for the Omaha stop of their tour. Get ready to be serenaded by the incredible voices of over 250 members of both choruses as they spread joy and harmony through music. This event is being offered free of charge, but, due to limited seating, tickets are REQUIRED. In lieu of charging admission, RCMC is collecting free-will donations to benefit OutNebraska, an organization dedicated to empowering, celebrating, and growing LGBTQIA2S+ communities in Nebraska.
