Capital Campaign Information

Updated: Feb 12

On December 8, 2024, First Unitarian's congregation voted to initiate a $250,000 capital campaign to fund future building repair and improvement projects.

As stated, the Capital Campaign Fund will be used exclusively for:

  • replacement of the church roof

  • installation of a lightning protection system

  • replacement of the elevator

  • other internal and external building improvement projects

Other projects are already underway, such as the roof replacement on the addition, the renovation and repair of our iconic steeple, repair and painting of the building exterior, and more!

Our church home was built in 1916 and is on the National Register of Historic Places and is an important example of Colonial Revival architecture.

If you would like to make a commitment to the Capital Campaign, you can submit a Pledge Form online, available here.

Ready to donate? Donations are tax deductible. Donate online or mail your contribution to: First Unitarian Church of Omaha, 3114 Harney Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68131. Please write "ATTN: Capital Campaign" in the memo line of your check.

The campaign enjoyed a soft opening during the month of December - "Always Start with a Good Hat." Thanks to those who donated and submitted pledges during this time!

The campaign formally kicks on Sunday, January 5 for a solid six weeks! The campaign closes on February 9.

The Capital Campaign team will host a table in the Common Room every Sunday after the service. There you can speak with volunteers to learn more, submit a campaign pledge, and/or make a donation. You can also take a photo with one of our wayward finials and hard hat!

A traditional mailing went out on Friday, January 3. View its contents:

The Capital Campaign officially ended on February 9. Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve almost $440,000 in pledged donations with more than $230,00 on hand at the close of the campaign. You can still donate using the information above.
