Emergency Contraceptive at First

Thanks to a generous donor, First Unitarian is pleased to offer emergency contraceptive at no-cost. This medication is available in our restrooms at any time.

Emergency contraceptive has many brand names, such as Plan B, Julie, ella, After Pill, and more. The names you see in the bathrooms might vary, but what you're looking for is the key ingredient - levonorgestrel. Levonorgestrel is a hormone used in birth control medications and at higher doses as an emergency birth control pill for up to 72 hours following sexual intercourse. Emergency contraceptive WILL NOT harm an existing pregnancy.

Some things you might like to know:

EC is considered "safer than aspirin" and non-toxic and non-addictive. The active ingredient is also not a known allergen. (source)

EC is available in public spaces where anyone can access them without the oversight of an actual human being acting as a barrier. (source)

There is no age restriction on EC in the state of Nebraska (or anywhere in the US - for now). (source)

Are you over 165 pounds or have a BMI of 25 percent or more? Emergency contraceptive may be less effective, but it is certainly not ineffective! (source)

You may also wish to contact Planned Parenthood Omaha at (877) 859-0589 for additional information about emergency contraceptive. Please be sure you are contacting reputable medical providers and not being taken advantage of by so-called crisis pregnancy centers posing as health facilities.

If you have additional needs, you may also contact our minister at minister@firstuuomaha.org or office at admin@firstuuomaha.org. First Unitarian is committed to supporting reproductive health and justice.
