Have an Idea? We'd Love to Hear It

Updated: 11 hours ago

One of the strengths of First Unitarian Church of Omaha has always been the talent, expertise, creativity, compassion, and experience of our members.

In recent years, we've invested significantly in our church building. Now we'd like to invest just as intentionally in our people, our programs, and our partnerships.

As we look toward the future, we want to foster a culture that encourages people to share their ideas and helps them bring those ideas to life. Whether your passion is creating opportunities for connection, lifelong learning, service, music, visual arts, justice, fellowship, or building new partnerships in the community, we want to help make it happen.

If you have an idea for a new program, class, discussion group, service project, community partnership, social activity, or other program, we'd love to explore it with you.

The first step is simple: schedule a conversation with the Ministry Teams Council (MTC) and complete the New Team/Activity/Event Proposal Form. The form helps us understand your idea and gives us a starting point for working together.

Our goal isn't to create unnecessary hurdles. Quite the opposite. The MTC exists to help people succeed. We want to connect new ideas with the resources they need, including:

  • Guidance or collaboration as you develop your idea

  • Coordination with the church calendar and other activities

  • Marketing and communications support

  • Connections with volunteers and potential partners

  • Help building a program that can grow and thrive over time

Whether your passion is spirituality, justice, music, visual arts, lifelong learning, fellowship, community service, or something entirely new, there's a place to begin the conversation.

We also hope new ideas will strengthen relationships both within and beyond our congregation. Programs can help us connect with current members, welcome new visitors, reconnect with former members, and collaborate with organizations and individuals who share our values and want to make a difference.

Complete the New Team/Activity/Event Proposal Form (click on the link or look under the "Programs" tab of the website) or send an email to mtc@firstuuomaha.org to schedule a conversation with the Ministry Teams Council. We'd love to hear your ideas.

-Jack Round, MTC
