Petition Campaign

Effort to get a measure on the ballot that would call for a 4/5 majority vote in the legislature to overturn successful initiative petition drives (examples - raise minimum wage, legalize cannabis, et al).

UU the Vote met on 2/10. The group has recently participated in the Candlelight Vigil 2/1 at Memorial Park, Eyes on ICE 2/5 on Zoom, "Solidarity over Silos” 2/7 at FUMC, Voters Forum with League of Women Voters 2/8 at First. Our group has been active in opposition to the presence of ICE agents in Minneapolis. The killings and the brutal tactics have moved many of us to resistance and protest - we are considering a letter-writing campaign to Minneapolis to share our care and support.

BIG NEWS: We are changing our name to the Social Justice Team. We will work on transitioning our communications to accommodate the change.

If you are interested in helping to preserve democracy and oppose the brutality, please join us in our pursuit of a better America and a better Omaha. For more information, contact uuthevoteleaders@firstuuomaha.org.
