This summer our Elementary Sunday School class, has been using Can Do Summer, an active, hands-on curriculum created by Soul Matters specifically for UU summer programs. Rooted in our Unitarian Universalist values of curiosity and imagination, the program is designed to inspire a “can-do spirit” and empower children to take on creative challenges with confidence and joy. Each week features a playful new adventure—building blanket forts, fairy houses, junk sculptures, fancy paper airplanes, obstacle courses, body percussion games, toothpick architecture, and more!
Photos from June 8 Session 1: Building Fairy Houses
Photos from June 22: Trying Fishy Things
This session was all about trying something NEW (and maybe a little scary. and a maybe little smelly). A volunteer notes, "Braith was very insistent I tell you the last photo reflects his feelings about this activity. Marney loved it." The last photo shows a sample of the observation sheet our young explorers filled out [*the optional caviar was omitted for budget compliance].
